McCormack Baron Asset Management provides a variety of asset management services for the McCormack Baron portfolio of communities as well as for other third-party-owned properties.

The primary goal of McCormack Baron Asset Management is to provide customized services to multi-family partnerships and assist the property management companies and asset managers to maximize the potential of the asset.

The Asset Manager will be a Vice President of McCormack Baron Asset Management ("MBAM") and will be responsible for a portfolio of affordable and mixed income housing properties ("the Properties") which were developed by McCormack Baron Salazar ("MBS"), and with management services provided by McCormack Baron Management or by other third party management companies.  The Asset Manager will report to the Senior Vice President of MBAM and will work closely with all departments within the McCormack Baron Companies, as well as with external parties, such as housing authorities, cities, lenders, investors and state housing agencies

The Asset Manager will monitor and evaluate all aspects of project performance, including compliance issues, cash flow/operating deficit management, occupancy and leasing, physical conditions, budgets, and capital repairs and replacements.  Frequent travel for site inspections will be required.

The Asset Manager may be called upon to support a project throughout its development, from input on markets for new business development, through project feasibility and development, to construction and lease up, with most emphasis on achieving stabilized operations and maximum profitability, both financially and for providing top quality housing in McCormack Baron communities. 

Primary duties include:

  • Act as the internal and external Owner's representative in all matters, and to be cognizant of liabilities which could affect the Owner.
  • Work closely with development and management teams through lease-up.
  • To identify and improve property operations to achieve lease-up milestones, stabilization, and cash flow.
  • To monitor Owner issues such as insurance, taxes, capital repairs and replacements, and opportunities for repositioning.
  • To communicate effectively with lenders, investors, housing authorities, and public agencies on reporting, compliance, and problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; Business, Accounting, or Finance a plus
  • Section 42 experience; familiarity with mixed income housing
  • Asset Management experience
  • Proficiency in Excel and Yardi or similar
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
